Why Brio? What does it mean and how does it fit with what we do? Brio is most often connected
to the Italian use and origin meaning liveliness or vigor. What many do not know is that it can be traced back further to
the Latin inspired Celtic meaning power, strength, honor, dignity, and many more adjectives along these same lines. Interestingly
we can trace the lineage of Brio back even further to the Greek word ἔμβρυον,
meaning embrion or embryo in English, it is composed of en: inside and brio: sprout or offspring an interesting meaning to
be sure. Today it is used in music as a descriptive term, to play con brio or to
play with vigor and passion.
When looking for a
way to describe how we wanted to live, work, teach and learn this background and meaning not only made sense but gave
voice and a name to how we feel. We want to live with Brio!
